Harvest

Harvest
Harvest

I was chatting to a farmer the other day about his wheat crop and I asked what tonnage he expected. He said that he would harvest about 25 thousand tons. That is quite a fair amount of wheat. I then asked what tonnage of seed he planted and his answer made me think. He had used just half a ton of seed.

That as I said got me thinking, all plants produce more than one seed be it grass, fruit tree, tomato, orange paw paw etc. Some seed pods have hundreds of seeds some have only a few.The paw paw normally has hundreds of seeds while a single orange may only have 5 or 6. Why one more than the other. Plant one grain of wheat and it could produce 200 grains of wheat. Many seeds if just left to nature will be eaten by birds and animals and just a few will reproduce, some will just not have the right conditions to germinate. Nature how ever always gets it right, never to much nor to little.

I saw what nature can do years ago. I was farming at the time and we were in the grip of a drought, I had not had a drop of rain on the farm for just short of 3 years, I was feeding my stock, even some of the game animals were feeding with my sheep, there just was nothing for them to eat. The drought broke on a Tuesday afternoon, we had a short heavy down pour and over the next few days we had rain every afternoon. Within a week of that first rain my farm was springing to life every where and with in two weeks one could not walk in the veld without stepping on some plant or other. Those seeds had been lying there for years just waiting for the right conditions.

I know of many people that are waiting for the right conditions to come along and change their lives. They are waiting for the rain and when it does rain where are they, sitting in side and by the time they get out side the rain is over. The crop they were hoping for was never planted. You plant you reap.

The same applies with planting seeds in Gods fields. The money we plant into a church will help that church grow but if that church does not use some of your seed and plant it else where that church will find its crop getting smaller and smaller. Your seed planted in the right place will germinate and grow and your harvest will come in, more than likely not from the field you planted but from some other field that was planted by someone else.

You want a harvest find a field that is barren and dry, give that field a little water and fertilizer and see what a harvest you will reap. I look at it this way, I plant a little here and a little there, I now have a patch work of fields. I try and spread my planting into different soils and yes I do expect a harvest and I do harvest. No farmer will plant his fields and expect NO crop neither should you, you plant by faith and the crop will grow and your harvest will be like the single wheat seed producing much
